Arnold Says People Who Politicize Coronavirus Masks Are 'Morons Who Can't Read'

Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t here for people who refuse to wear face masks in public, and he’s taking an unapologetic stance on the public health issue.

On June 18, California governor Gavin Newsom issued a state order requiring face coverings in public spaces to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The mandate applies to all citizens except young children, those who are deaf or hard of hearing, and people with medical conditions.

After Newsom’s announcement, Schwarzenegger, who is the former governor of California, posted on Twitter in support of the declaration.

“This is 100% the right move,” Schwarzenegger wrote on Twitter, quoting a tweet by Newsom outlining the mandate. “This will help us beat this terrible virus. The science is unanimous—if we all wear masks, we slow down the spread and can reopen safely. It’s not a political issue. Anyone making it a political issue is an absolute moron who can’t read.”

In a subsequent post, Schwarzenegger retweeted a June 11 tweet by the U.S. Surgeon General, which called cloth face coverings a “basic public health recommendation” that is important to follow as states reopen.

This is 100% the right move. This will help us beat this terrible virus. The science is unanimous – if we all wear masks, we slow down the spread and can reopen safely. It’s not a political issue. Anyone making it a political issue is an absolute moron who can’t read. https://t.co/N0FmCwDU5w

Back in April, Schwarzenegger was seen out in California wearing a Terminator-inspired face mask that read “We’ll Be Back.” The 72-year-old actor is selling the exact face mask via his online store, with all net profits going to his non-profit After-School All-Stars. He’s even wearing the face mask in his Twitter picture, proving the Terminator practices what he preaches.

Moral of the story: Make Arnold proud. Wear your mask.
