Coronavirus cure: Does mouthwash help cure COVID-19? Dr Hilary explains

When it comes to potential cures for COVID-19 some weird and outrageous theories have been flying about. Dr Hilary Jones spoke on Lorraine to discuss this further, and in particular whether mouthwash could protect an individual from COVID-19.

Dr Hilary said: “I have had many weird ideas of what a person can inhale to help protect them against COVID-19.

“I have also had many offers from companies to endorse their mouthwash and I say no to them.

“There is no evidence that that mouthwash can kill COVID-19.

“Mouthwash does help to kill bacteria and viruses in the mouth but not something like COVID-19.

“There are small studies that say it might have some benefits, but we can’t say for sure and people should not run out to buy mouthwash.”
