Turns Out, Wearing Socks In Bed Might Help You Sleep Better

If there’s one headline you will always see me clicking on my news feed, it’s the one that has anything to do with improving sleep.

Something that I’m lacking a little bit more of after having a baby and working full-time (did I really just say little bit?), finding new ways to improve the hours of solid shut-eye I get is music to my ears. And it turns out TikTok has my latest hack.

A viral video that was posted by Dr Jess Andrade, a resident doctor with over one million followers on the platform, claims that there is a super simple hack that could help anybody who is struggling to fall asleep, and it involves wearing clothing that you’ll almost definitely already own: socks!

Dr Andrade explains that although it’s a divisive topic for some, she’s firmly on the side of #TeamSocks.

“So let’s talk about people that wear socks to bed,” she begins her video (which has now been viewed over 19 million times). “So wearing socks makes your feet warm and this opens up the blood vessels that cools the body down.”

“The body being cool tells the brain that it’s time for bed, so actually people that wear socks tend to fall asleep faster… Dr Jess, out!”

While a bunch of people in the comments aren’t too keen on the idea, “I can’t sleep with socks it’s so uncomfortable,” others wondered why others aren’t doing it already. “Wait… people struggle with wearing socks? I wear socks 24/7. Even to sleep. It feels uncomfortable with them off”.
